MADALI was excited to chat with sisters Tenija, Tiara, and Temperance of the singing group RoXxy Montana, who recently appeared on the hit television show The X Factor and will be releasing their new single this fall. RoXxy Montana are MANE MADALIans because they make being a talented beauty look easy.
MADALI: RoXxy Montana is a very unique name! How did you come up with it?
RoXxy Montana: When we got our first [record] deal, we moved to New York when we were teenagers. One was named Roxxy and the other was Montana. If you put them next to Barbies, you could see that they had imperfections. So, to us, RoXxy Montana means perfectly imperfect.
MADALI: How has your life changed since The X Factor?
RM: The X Factor was definitely the best thing we could have done. Besides the media and the fan support, we signed a record deal in February [2014.] We’re recording our album now and our single drops this fall. We’re shooting a music video for that in a few weeks.
MADALI: What are your passions outside of the music world?
RM: We are heavy advocates [against] bullying and for fitness. We are working on a fitness DVD now with our trainer. And we’re also working on a comic book based on our lives.
MADALI: As sisters, you naturally have plenty in common…but how are you different from each other?
RM: We’re totally different. Honestly, if we weren’t sisters, we probably couldn’t be in a group together! [Tenija] (23) doesn’t think so, but she’s like the diva…the girly girl with big hair and makeup, that’s her. [Tiara] (22) is the equal between the two, the normal one. [Temperance] (21) is a little darker, a little edgier, a little earthier. We each have our own things, but when it comes together, that’s what makes [RoXxy Montana] so special.
MADALI: How does MADALI fit your unique personalities and styles?
RM: We each have a different [product] and of course they’re different colors. That’s another thing we liked: our stylist dyed it and the texture didn’t change! Two of us have [Silky Tight Wave] and one has [Silky Straight. Tenija’s is an auburn brown, [Tiara’s] is jet black, and Temperance’s is aqua green (it’s so cute)!
MADALI: What do you like best about MADALI products?
RM: The hair is beautiful! We went somewhere and [a guy] asked us if we were Brazilian (laughs). The hair texture doesn’t look fake. You can put water on it and it just curls up—you don’t have to put curls in it. It’s really good hair.
MADALI: As busy as you are, does MADALI fit your lifestyle?
RM: Oh, yes. It’s easy on the go, even when [you] wear a hat. A lot of times [other hair products] will be matted, but [MADALI] never does that. [You] can wear ponytails, everything. It’s the best virgin hair we’ve ever had.
MADALI: What do you want MADALI fans to know about RoXxy Montana?
RM: That you can be a woman and stand for something and still take on the industry. You can still project a positive image. It’s okay to be a woman and to be feminine. That’s what we want to project: We want to be women that are talented, that have morals, that have class and standards, and we just want to be something that young girls can look up to.
